Voltaren® (diclofenac sodium) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is used for the treatment of pain and inflammation in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), ankylosing spondylitis, acute pain, and ankylosing spondylitis. It is available in the form of tablets, capsules, and gel.
Voltaren® is most effective when used as directed. Do not crush, break, or chew the tablet. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not break, crush, or chew the tablet. Voltaren® is a prescription-only drug. Talk to your doctor if you have any concerns.
Talk to your doctor about the use of Voltaren® in children. The drug may be less likely to cause stomach ulcers or bleeding problems in NSAID-treated children. You may be more likely to have stomach ulcers in children who take NSAIDs as an alternative to Voltaren®.

You should use caution if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, have history of stomach bleeding, high cholesterol, high blood sugar, high blood pressure, have liver or kidney disease or if you have asthma.
Voltaren® may not be right for you in people with a history of gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcer disease, or bleeding in the stomach or intestines. Tell your doctor if you have ever had stomach ulcers that didn’t heal after using Voltaren® for more than a few days. You may have a bleeding or bleeding related to treatment with Voltaren®. You may need to use caution if you have unexplained fluid retention, high blood potassium levels, you are a diabetic, or if you smoke. You may need to take aspirin or other anti-inflammatory medicines in the 3 days before Voltaren® treatment.
